The INCfinder database consists of IncC and IncA plasmids derived from the NCBI database. Inc groups are a large family of hundreds of plasmids with conserved backbone and diverse accessory regions. The plasmids are found by searching for the characteristic repA gene and than grouped by the presence of specific gene alleles and insertions in the plasmid backbone (see About page). The plasmids are also searched against the CARD database with RGI to find antibiotic resistance genes.

The database can be searched by sequence (using BLAST), NCBI id and the presence of specific antibiotic resistance genes. An overiew of the database is provided in the Browse section. Statistics describing the database can be found here.

The database is automatically updated every two weeks.
